Detroit Zoo... peacocks

Yesterday we visited the Detroit Zoo... of all the animals we have seen there, one bird really refreshed us all through the visit...its the peacocks.
Seeing them was one thing... but seeing them open their feathers was a beautiful sight... and they dancing upclose near us was like icing on the cake.

Here are pics and some videos of these peacocks...

India Trip contd...

Since there were restrictions on carrying liquids in carry-ons, I had to put all my son's meds in check-in, shouldn;t have done it, atleast should have carried tylenol or claritin with me.

Anyways, we tried our best to sort stuff in carry-ons and check-ins and luckily got through the baggage check in at airport and then the security and finally boarded the plane to India. It was a different feeling, you know what to expect and sometimes you don't - as I am travelling after a long time. mixed feelings , strange ideas- anyways, got hold of myself and stayed common and decided to take in what comes thru and face everything old and new- just being positive.

We boarded the Lufthansa plane to Frankfurt scheduled to depart @ 4:30 pm. Meals were good, good thing we ordered for "Hindu Vegetarian meals" through out our flights - and we did this when buying tickets itself. flight was good and so were meals , as I said before. We reached safely there and found our transit terminal for next flight to Hyderabad. Its a dream to think everyting will go smooth... our transit flight got changed due to techical problems and they had to replace it with small plane... what does that mean? some seats selected randomly by their system will not be flying in that plane. Its good that we found that out early, so the crew ppl had put us in another airplane scheduled to leave in next 3 hours on Qatar Airways. We had no time to think too much and decided to accept what the crew members showed and were waiting for confirmation from Qatar airways about our seats, otherwise it meant, we have to stay in airport till next day and board another lufthansa flight to b'lore. Too late for us... moreover my child was travelling with me, I didn't want him to be frustrated. We bought a intl calling card to India in frankfurt airport and called my in-laws. We gave them the news of our flight transit and that we may not be landing in the scheduled plane which was planned to land first in early hours at New Hyderabad International Airport. To our surprise, we learnt that the Intl Airport opening was delayed and all flights to Hyd are scheduled to land in Begumpet airport itself. Hmm, how funny...! Started to check our flight bookings with Qatar, and one of Luft crew gave a voucher to use for refreshments in airport. Good lady... God bless her- we totally forgot about it... we bought ourselves something to eat. Finally the flight bookings got confirmed and we boarded the plane. Thank God for all this- else we would be waiting for -god knows for how long. Thankfully, this flight was also good- served Hindu Veg meals. since they were new airways, the flights looked new and seats little spacious than old ones. This flight took us to Doha, where we had to wait another 3 hours to board a plane to hyderabad.

Doha airport was new one- but they are still developing- looked like. All desis , telugus, tamilians, muslims ofcourse and malayalis mostly. Main airport is far away from the terminals. so they have shuttle busses carrying to terminals and we have to climb stairs- ridiculous...
Everything is fine then, as I was going to India after long long time... no other choice too :)

My superfast India Trip!!

Yes, it was a super-fast trip to India in 3 weeks vacation time. Of course I cannot cover everything in one day....
we were going there after 7 years,2 months. Not an easy one- had to do lots of planning for smooth and safe trip, atleast I tried to.

our plans was to visit Tirupathi, Shirdi, bhadrachalam, ofcourse my home town hanamkonda, and my husband's maternal grandma's town kurnool( not only to meet ppl there but to order ornaments). We would stay in Hyderabad and main reason to go at this time was our flat was in constuction and our builder would make it gruha pravesh ready atleast by march 20th.

So many things to see and places to visit...

Anyways, we got the plan and itinerary not only for flights set but also for the above places to go and my parents and in-laws were helping me in everyway.

we pack 3 big softs, 1 hard and 2 strollers with 2 empty bags for emergency. One may ask, why? people travelling abroad would know it by now, got extra luggage dump in those bags and put it in ur child's name, else pay extra for that baggage. glad we carried them- it helped us a lot.
One good thing I also did was to carry extra pair of clothes for each of us in strollers, just in case if your luggage is lost or delayed by airlines to deliver. This helped us too, as all our luggage delayed by one day due to our airways changes in the transit. Well this is another lesson to remember. Also good is to carry your tooth paste and brushes in strollers rather than in check-luggage.
